Hino Nacional Brasileiro em inglês

The Brazilian National Antem

Ouviram do Ipiranga as margens plácidas
De um povo heroico o brado retumbante,
E o sol da Liberdade, em raios fúlgidos,
Brilhou no céu da Pátria nesse instante.

The placid shores on the Ipiranga heard
The resounding cry of a heroic people
And the sun of liberty, in fulgent rays
Now shined in the sky of our country.

Se o penhor dessa igualdade
Conseguimos conquistar com braço forte,
Em teu seio, ó Liberdade,
Desafia o nosso peito a própria morte!

If the pledge of this equality
We succeeded to conquer with a strong arms,
In your bosom, oh liberty,
Our courage defies death itself!

Ó Pátria amada,
Idolatrada,
Salve! Salve!

Oh loved country,
Idolatrizes
Hail! Hail!

Brasil, um sonho intenso, um raio vívido,
De amor e de esperança à terra desce,
Se em teu formoso céu, risonho e límpido,
A imagem do Cruzeiro resplandece.

Brazil, an ardent dream, a ray so vivid,
Of love and hope to earth now descends,
If in beautiful sky, pleasant and limpid,
The southern of the cross image is resplendent.

Gigante pela própria natureza,
És belo, és forte, impávido colosso,
E o teu futuro espelha essa grandeza.

A giant by your own nature,
Youre beautiful, strong, intrepid colossus,
And your future thus reflects this greatness.

Terra adorada
Entre outras mil
És tu, Brasil,
Ó Pátria amada
Brasil!

Beloved land
Among a thousands
You are, Brazil,
Oh loved country,
Brazil!

Segunda parte – Second part

Deitado eternamente em berço esplêndido,
Ao som do mar e à luz do céu profundo,
Fulguras, ó Brasil, florão da América,
Iluminado ao sol do Novo Mundo!

For ever lying on splendid birth,
With the sea sound and the deepest skylight
Youre, oh Brazil, Americas mirth,
Enlighted to the sun of a New World!

Do que a terra mais garrida
Teus risonhos, lindos campos têm mais flores,
“Nossos bosques têm mais vida”,
“Nossa vida! no teu seio “mais amores”.
Ó Pátria amada,
Idolatrada,
Salve! Salve!

Than the most elegant land abroad,
thy smiling, pretty prairies have more flowers
“Our woods have more life”,
“Our life” in your bosom has “more love”.
Oh loved country,
Idolatrized,
Hail, hail!

Brasil, de amor eterno seja símbolo
O lábaro que ostentas estrelado,
E diga o verde-louro dessa flâmula
- Paz no futuro e glória no passado.

Brazil, a symbol of eternal love let be
The starred labarum you show so proudly
And let the yellow-green of your flag say
- Peace in the future and glory in the past.

Mas se ergues da justiça a clava forte,
Verás que um filho teu não foge à luta,
Nem teme, quem te adora, a própria morte.

If you raise up the strong club of Justice,
You Il see that your children will fight with courage
Who adores you will not fear death.

Terra adorada
Entre outras mil
És tu, Brasil,
Ó Pátria amada!

Adored country,
Among a thousands,
You are, Brazil,
Oh loved country!

Dos filhos deste solo és mãe gentil,
Pátria amada,
Brasil!

A genteel mother of this lands country
Loved country,
Brazil!
